- W16099142 abstract "Ultrasound (US) and computerized tomography (CT) are two well-established methods for diagnostic imaging of the upper abdomen which demonstrate focal changes of the liver with great sensitivity. However, even with adjunctive use of contrast medium-enhanced sequential CT, the differential diagnosis of liver lesions and the demonstration of circumscribed changes of the spleen are not satisfactory with these methods. Puncture-cytologic or histologic assessment of liver lesions, or splenectomy with subsequent histologic assessment, is therefore frequently necessary to clarify the clinical picture." @default.
