Cozumlemede ki-kare testi, Fisher’in kesin ki-kare testi ve lojistik regresyon analizi kullanilmistir.  Bulgular: Kiz ogrencilerde sigara icen genclerin orani lise ve ciraklik ogrencileri icin sirasiyla soyledir: 15 yasta %4.89 ve %0.00, 16 yasta %7.19 ve %21.05, 17 yasta %7.63 ve %34.62, 18 yasta %14.29 ve %33.33 ve 19-20 yas grubunda %0.00 ve %30.00 (tum yaslar icin p<0.001). Erkek ogrencilerde ise sigara icen genclerin orani lise ve ciraklik ogrencileri icin sirasiyla soyledir: 15 yasta %10.53 ve %26.67, 16 yasta %12.15 ve %31.88, 17 yasta %17.94 ve %48.00, 18 yasta %21.31 ve %53.29 ve 19-20 yas grubunda %25.00 ve %81.08  (tum yaslar icin p<0.001). Yas, cinsiyet, sosyal sinif, yakin arkadaslarinin sigara icmesi ve alkol kullanimi acisindan duzeltildiginde calisiyor olmanin sigara icme acisindan 3.88 kat (%95 GA, 2.84- 5.29) (p<0.001), duzenli sigara icme acisindan 2.53 kat (1.81- 3.52) (p<0.001) risk olusturdugu saptanmistir. Sonuc: Calisan genclerde sigara icme oldukca yaygindir. Sigaradan korunma konusunda yurutulecek saglik egitimi programlarinda calisan gencler oncelikli bir grup olarak ele alinmalidir. Anahtar Kelimeler: sigara, duzenli sigara icicisi, duzenli calisma, ciraklik Abstract Objective: This cross sectional study was conducted to evaluate smoking prevalence among Turkish adolescents and its relation with working status. Methods: Study population was obtained from two previous researches and consisted of 750 students among the 1011 students attending the Apprenticeship Education School in November 2008 as the working group (%74.1); 1687 adolescents among the 1937 adolescents attending three different high schools in May 2008 (87.1%) as the non-working group. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires. Chi square test, Fisher’s exact test, and logistic regression analyses were used. Results: Among working and non-working girls, smoking prevalences in different age groups were respectively 4.9% and 0.0% in 15 years, 7.2% and 21.0% in 16 years, 7.7% and  34.6% in 17 years, 0.0% and 30.0% in 18 years,  0.0% and 30.0% in 19-20 years age groups (p<0.001 for each age). Smoking prevalences among working and non-working boys were respectively 10.5% and 26.7% in 15 years, 12.2% and 31.9% in 16 years, 18.0% and  48.0% in 17 years, 21.3% and 53.3% in 18 years,  25.0% and 81.0% in 19-20 years age groups (p<0.001 for each age). After adjustment for age, sex, social class, smoking status and alcohol use of  close friends, regular working was positively associated with “smoking” (Odds Ratio [OR] = 3.9, 95% CI: 2.84–5.29) (p<0.001) and “regular smoking” (Odds Ratio [OR] = 2.5, 95% CI:1.81–3.52) (p<0.001). Conclusions: Smoking is very common among regularly working adolescents.
