- W1649426372 abstract "This paper reviews the present status of the study of the galactic cosmic ray modulation effects, such as 11-yr variations, radial gradients, yearly variations, transverse gradients, 27-day variations, sporadic variations, Forbush decreases, cosmic-ray intensity increases before a Forbush decrease, solar anisotropy of the galactic cosmic rays and its time variations, microvariations, etc. Theoretical concepts which attempt to explain the main features of the observed events are discussed. Information about the properties of the solar wind, its magnetic field, and propagation of disturbances derived from the data on the cosmic-ray modulation effects are discussed. The 11-yr variations and their connection with various solar activity indices, in particular with the HL-index which takes account of the distribution of solar activity in heliocentric latitude, are discussed very thoroughly. The properties of the solar wind at the boundary with the interstellar medium are estimated. The turbulent transition zone of the subsonic solar wind and its possible effect on the galactic cosmic rays are studied." @default.
