- W1657709722 abstract "Postimplantation development of the mouse embryo features a series of specification events leading to the delineation of domains of tissue progenitors and lineages. Fate mapping studies have shown that there is a regionalization of cell fate in the epiblast at the onset of gastrulation. In mouse, evidence suggests the existence of an organizer for body plan in the embryo during gastrulation. The organization of the body plan during gastrulation and early organogenesis depends critically on the activity of axial structures such as the notochord and the floor plate, which are derived largely from cells in the node. The morphological recognizable node of the mouse embryo can induce the formation of supernumerary axial and paraxial structures from the host tissues following transplantation to heterotopic sites. The predecessor of the node is presumed to be a source of an inductive signal that is transmitted first in a planar mode for generating the anterior-posterior polarity in the epiblast. The mesendoderm tissues that are derived from this early organizer then exert their inductive activity in the vertical manner as the mesendoderm and the ectoderm are juxtaposed during morphogenesis." @default.
