- W165922497 abstract "Summary Time-lapse cinematographic studies of in vitro developing centrifuged or fused cleaving embryos of the mouse have given the following main results: High speed centrifugation (25.000 to 50.000 g) at the 2-cell stage does not affect the preimplantation development and a normal blastocyst is formed. Fusion is a process which occurs rapidly, during periods of higher adhesiveness of the blastomeres: at the postmitotic period in general, and at the globular period of the 8-cell stage. Changes in the membranes can be seen at the contact points between the partner-cells. Blastocyst formation may involve three different mechanisms related to the degree of synchronism of the combined embryos: formation of a common single cavity, of a single cavity at the expense of one of the embryos or of two twin cavities which coalesce. The observations on fusion do not reveal any oriented cell movement supporting the idea of a specific blastomeric reaggregation. Fusion was not observed at stage XVI or later." @default.
