• W1661567409 abstract "ABSTRACT The incidence of solar radiation on a plane surface is function of latitude and longitude and of the surface's slope and orientation. The function relating the geographical coordinates with the incident energy is well known in the case of a surface with horizontal orientation, but efforts have yet to be done to determine the increase or decrease of captured energy when the surface is not horizontal. To this end and by means of a pyran o -meter ecuatorially mounted upon a modified theodolite system, measurements of the global and diffuse radiation flux at various tilt and azimuth angles have been made in clear days. The resulting data of several days of measurements have been compared with the ones obtained by TEMPS and COULSON [1] by a similar method. Furthemore the data have been used to evaluate the validity of ROBINSON'S [2] and DAVE'S [3] models. We consider the possibility of introducing some modifications in both models to achieve a better agreement with the experimental results. The mathematical formulation has been kept as simple and general as possible and distinction has been made between direct solar radiation, diffuse sky radiation and diffuse ground reflection by comparisib with the measurements obtained by pyran o meters with fixed orientations and slopes, and with considerations of the surface's albedo." @default.
