- W167635733 abstract "The numerous and considerable changes which have occurred since the publication in the Family Law Quarterly (vol. VI, no. 2, Summer 1972), of a chart listing Grounds for Divorce in the American Jurisdictions have necessitated the compilation of a new and updated chart. (Chart A: Changes in laws of 26 states.) We have also compiled another chart (Chart B), dividing the jurisdictions into those with grounds only and those with no fault grounds. Grounds in no fault jurisdictions have been subdivided into the five following categories for purposes of clarification: (1) irretrievable breakdown as a sole ground for marriage dissolution; (2) irretrievable breakdown added to existing grounds; (3) incompatibility added to existing grounds; (4) living separate and apart for a specified period. As of June 1, 1974, there remain only five states, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota, where marital misconduct is the sole basis for divorce, but in all of these states reform is in the wind." @default.
