- W168563338 abstract "This study is an extension of an ongoing line of research contrasting Brazilian and American managers' approaches toward tne resolution of personnel disputes. Based on self-report interview aata, the results of this study indicate that in contrast with American men managers, Brazilian men managers are more likely to use power rather than communication (negotiation) to gain personnel compliance with company policies and managers' instructions. These results are aiscunaed in terms of cross-cultural differences between Brazilian and American societies, with particular attention given to Machismo as a possible mitigating factor accounting for tne greater use of power among Brazilian men managers." @default.
