- W1686081179 abstract "In the “hands-on” spirit of Patient Simulation, the new coordinators are desired to have training that's experiential. First, they need to receive an orientation to simulation and then produce their own simulation session. A simulation scenario is defined as a simulated “clinical event” that involves a patient simulator operated by a coordinator. In contrast, a session encompasses the scenario, the designing, planning, and ultimately, execution of the simulation. New coordinators will become familiar with the technical capabilities of the patient simulators, the software interface, and the simulation sessions currently happening (examples to gain familiarity with). The new coordinators are presented with an organized framework to guide them in their development of a session: the logistics, the scenario, the software, the theater setup, rehearsing, and presentation of the session. Learning to become a competent simulation professional is as challenging as learning any clinical specialty—both require a balance of art with science. Traditional clinical programs explicitly acquaint students with science and technology, but not so much with art and theater. Hence, mastering the technical operations of patient simulators, clinical equipment, audiovisual system, etc., is easier than the less familiar but no less essential artistic creativity." @default.
