- W170267003 abstract "Nonlinear magnetooptic experiments are discussed on different levels of complication. In the first chapter two-photon transitions to excitons and Landau levels are investigated, which are not simultaneously one-photon allowed. Within this chapter semiconductors with simple band structure as ZnO and Cu 2 O (two-fold valence and conduction band) are discussed first. A more complicated band structure (four-fold valence band) leads to a complicated P exciton spectrum in a magnetic field as will be shown for typical zinc blende semiconductors as ZnSe and CdTe. Excitonic effects clearly show up in transitions to Landau levels as will be discussed for two-photon transitions in CdTe and multiple quantum wells. In a second chapter two-photon and three-photon transitions are investigated which are simultaneously one-photon allowed. In order to explain the observed K-dependent splitting the polariton character of the excited states has to be taken into account. This will be demonstrated for transitions in CuCl and alkali halides." @default.
