- W1707027997 abstract "Diseases of the central retina, particularly in the macula and the visual nerve, result in impairments in the central visual field. In the case of a central scotoma, you can expect a change in the fixation associated with the fovea (the macular area) and ultimately, it is the eccentric fixation that determines the remaining visual function. Most traditional examination methods are limited to testing function in the area around the central retina where the resolution capacity and as a result acuity are the greatest. Perimetry is one of the few techniques available that enables examination of visual function outside of the macula in a manner that allows you to topographically locate the injuries to the system. Perimetry supplies an image of the degree of perceived visual field limitation in the subject and plays a vital role as a functional diagnostic examination technique. Since central scotoma, particularly in an advanced stage, results in fixation difficulties in visual field examination, it often makes the edges of the scotoma difficult to determine. The aim of the study was to test a computerized version of the Auto Plot Perimetry and investigate if the program provides reliable results that are comparable to other examination methods. In addition, different fixation indicators were used to check if and, in that case, to what degree these can assist the person suffering from central scotoma in obtaining a central fixation of the fovea during measurement." @default.
