- W1790836 abstract "The effect of subchronic treatment with serotonin agonists and antagonists was tested on rats in an animal model of endogenous depression called “Learned Helplessness” (LH) in order to clarify the validity of this model as a screening test for new antidepressants. The results showed that neither ipsapirone nor buspirone (5-HT1A agonists) had effect in LH. Citalopram (a clinically effective 5-HT-reuptake-inhibitor), ritanserin (5-HT2 antagonist) and GR 38032F (5-HT3 antagonist) had only limited effects, whereas imipramine had a dose-dependentiy effect. These results cost doubt on the usefulness of LH as a screening model for new antidepressant drugs." @default.
