- W179957794 abstract "The gravel-emulsion technique allows the development of a family of cold dense bituminous materials, ranging from high quality mixes to on site soil stabilizations. This is well known in Spain and, therefore, these techniques are often employed. Slow setting conventional emulsions, either anionic or cationic, have some problems when employed. This has been the main reason to develop a research programme aimed at adjusting a specific emulsion to be used with the majority of the aggregates without manufacturing or evolution (curing) problems after being laid. Of all the gravel-emulsion family, the use of local and/or marginal materials has a special interest due its economic advantage. This paper describes the research carried out with 92 types of materials from Spain and Portugal. The conclusion obtained from the research shows that most of the available materials can be used in base, regulation and reinforcement courses with economic advantages, and that the means needed for the analysis and technical characterization of these materials are available." @default.
