- W180531107 abstract "Ultrasound features of solid scrotal tumors are often non-specific, and most of them have no special character to help identification of their nature. Ultrasound, however, identifies the lesion in virtually all cases, allows differentiation between intratesticular and extratesticular masses, and gives an accurate estimate of its extent and relationship with adjacent tissues. A cystic extratesticular mass is usually a epididymal cyst, a relatively common finding, which is almost invariably benign. Purely cystic testicular nodules, without any mural irregularity, can be classified as benign. Careful attention, however, must be paid to identify any sign of complexity. Given the high sensitivity of ultrasound, MRI may have a role in a few clinical situations: when diffuse, non-specific testicular involvement is seen on ultrasound scanning, when fibrous lesions, lipomas, or haemorrhage are suspected, or when clinical and ultrasound findings are inconclusive." @default.
