- W180697777 abstract "This chapter presents results from the output of ecological network analysis (ENA) of a number of coastal ecosystems, with emphasis on estuaries. Comparisons of system properties derived from ENA, specifically network analysis, are made of coastal ecosystems on global spatial scales, and over temporal scales ranging from months, to seasons, to decades for specific systems. Assessments are made of the impact of selected but dominant environmental parameters, such as temperature, oxygen, and salinity, on the functioning of estuaries, using ENA. Simulations of the impacts of biomass reductions and increases of prey and predators, respectively, yielded interesting predictions of changes over time in system components of selected ecosystems. Network models with carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus as currencies have been constructed, and the dynamics of these macro-nutrients are assessed for two coastal ecosystems." @default.
