- W1820091432 abstract "Using concepts from the psychoanalytic theory, it is hypothesized that particular neurotransmitter systems correlate to specific stages of child development. Based on this a three layer neural network model of personality is presented in which each sequential layer is taken to contain neurons mostly sensitive to a particular neurotransmitter. Due to their postulated correlation to personality traits, the monoamine dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin are respectively considered for each sequential layer. Thus, several brain areas are represented redundantly as their neurons are assigned to different layers of the neural network. Representing the architecture in this manner is consistent with actual neuronal connections, and allows multiple brain areas to be represented by a three layer neural network in a way which is useful for understanding brain function and psychopathology." @default.
