- W1845768109 abstract "Using Theory of Planned Behavior, this study aimed to examine health care professionals’ intention and fidelity in proposing internet administered psychotherapy to patients. 16 organizations fulfilled the criteria for inclusion in the study, of which 14 accepted. Data was collected through a web survey sent to 214 persons, of which 42 responded, equivalent to 20%. Outcome variables were intention and fidelity and predictors were attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control (PBC). The outcome variables were also compared to patient flow. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the explanatory power of the predictors for each outcome variable. Product moment correlation was used to examine the covariance between the outcome variables and patient flow. Attitude was the only predictor that showed a significant response power for intention (β = 0.35) and fidelity (β = 0.58). The outcome variables co varied with patient flow, but they were not statistically significant (intention r = 0.83 and fidelity r = 0.63). The study provided evidence that Theory of Planned Behavior can explain and predict a significant degree of health care professionals’ intention and fidelity to proposing internet administered psychotherapy to patients. Both outcome variables are probably closely related to patient flow. The results suggested that the best way of influencing these variables is through strengthening positive beliefs about the behavior and its consequences." @default.
