- W184906887 abstract "Two processes which are widely used in today’s molecular biology laboratory are restriction endonuclease digestion and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The primary method utilized by most molecular biologists for studying and characterizing the DNA generated by these processes is slab gel electrophoresis followed by stain or probe detection [1]. While slab gels have served as the workhorse of molecular biology for almost 30 years, they remain labor intensive, time consuming and difficult to automate. This chapter will address the advantages and abilities of capillary electrophoresis (CE) for separating double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) fragments. The main focus will be on DNA separations in the size range of 50–1500 base pairs (bp)." @default.
