- W184985170 abstract "Abstract This paper describes some parts of our preliminary clinical and experimental studies, which can be expected to contribute to the scintillating future of pulmonary nuclear medicine. The studies include 99mTc-DTPA aerosol scintigraphy in the evaluation of alveolar permeability changes associated with irradiation and pulmonary surfactant, N-isopropyl-p-123I-iodoamphetamine (IMP) and 99mTc-hexamethyl-propyleneamine (HMPAO) in investigating microvascular circulation or function, metaiodobenzylguanidine (123I-MIBG) in assessing the evaluation of the pulmonary neuroadrenergic system, and 133Xe-gas dynamic SPECT in the evaluation of cross-sectional regional lung ventilation. Despite the recent development of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, the greater parts of these functional assessments have not yet been achieved because of considerable susceptibility effects due to the large air and tissue interface. In the next century, pulmonary scintillating tests with radiotracers will continuously play an important role in assessing pathophysiology in various diseased lungs, which is difficult to be assessed by other morphologic imaging." @default.
