- W1856358460 abstract "Although physical activities are nowadays considered important for people with haemophilia (PWH) with regard to their physical status (1), motoric coordination (2) and psychological equilibrium (3), there are still several obstacles towards sport activities in PWHs such as physical condition of the patient, worries of the patient’s family, limited knowledge of potential benefits, concerns in school and limitations of agonistic sport. Previous studies found that 56.7% of adult patients had to refrain from sports compared to 19.7% of children (4). Three quarter of adult patients and almost one third of paediatric patients had to refrain from soccer. Since more than half of the adult haemophilia patients and one fifth of the paediatric patients have still nowadays to refrain from sports and guidelines are lacking concerning recommendations about the type of sport, which should or could be practiced by PWHs and how often it should be exercised a survey was conducted among German haemophilia physicians (HaemoSportSat Study). This study is a satellite survey of the Italian Emo-Sport Study into the „Assessment of risks and benefits of sports activities in haemophilic children”. Aim of the study was to assess the attitudes and recommendations of German haemophilia physicians towards sport activities of patients with haemophilia." @default.
