Without good policy, internet usage, chatting, and the many other things one does via the internet would be unmonitored & abused at the workplace. Policy allows a business to mitigate its risk of losing valuable data & documents by governing the usage of email and the separation of duties to control access and permissions. Policy finally allows a business to not only comply with regulated systems and processes, but also demonstrate its compliance.
