- W1881296248 abstract "To describe ultrasound (US) and hysterosonographic (HSG) characteristics of endometrial hyperplasia using IETA terms published in 2010. 38 patients (pts) with histological diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia (simple, complex and atypical) underwent US and HSG between January 2012 and March 2012. HSG findings, US gray-scale findings and vascular patterns have been described using IETA terms. All examinations, among women in premenopausal status, have been performed within ten days after menstrual period. Endometrial thickness was widely variable (4–29 mm). Median thickness was 11 and 7 mm in premenopausal and postmenopausal patients, respectively. Endometrial ecogenicity was: 19% isoechoic, 13% hyperechoic, 26% homogenous with regular cystic areas, 40% heterogenous without cystic areas, 2% heterogenous with irregular cystic areas (the only case of atypical hyperplasia). Endometrial midline was: 76% not defined, 19% linear, 2% not linear. Myomas were found in 8 pts. Endometrial-myometrial junction was: regular in 23 pts (61%), irregular in 3 pts (8%), not defined in 12 pts (31%). Color score was 1 in 26 pts, 69%, and 2 in 12 pts, 31%. An endometrial lesion was assessed in 4 pts, 11%. In these pts color score was 2 and vascular pattern was a single vessel with or without branching (50%) and scattered vessels (50%). At HSG endometrial layers were not symmetric in 16 pts. The outline of endometrial background was: smooth in 23 pts, 61%, with endometrial folds in 5 pts, 13%, polypoid in 8 pts, 21% and irregular in 1 pt, 3%. Endometrial thickness is not a good diagnostic tool to identify endometrial hyperplasia. The most frequent diagnostic findings were the presence of endometrial cystic areas or an irregular endometrial appearance and asymmetric endometrial layers at HSG. Vascularization was often absent and no diagnostic vascular pattern was identified." @default.
