Fur die saisonal mangelhafte Ernahrungssituation der im Gebiet gehaltenen Ziegen spielt neben den ausgepragten Schwankungen im Nahrwert der naturlichen Vegetation die stark schwankende Futterverfugbarkeit, welche zu einer unterschiedlichen Futteraufnahme fuhrt, eine grose Rolle. Summary In north east Mexico it is observed that goats kept on extensive feeding over the year had an average daily dry matter intake (ADDI) amounting to 3.80% of the body weight (BW), corresponding to 97.90 g per kg metabolic body weight (MBW). The lowest I ADDI were recorded in December (2.21% of BW or 58.00 g/kg MBW) and June (2.28% of BW or 58.79 g/kg MBW). Relatively low ADDI values were observed in January and February i.e. 3.43% and 3.48% of BW or 88.90 and 89.60 g/kg MBW, respectively. The highest ADDI of the year was recorded in July i.e. 5.35% of BW or 137.50 g/kg MBW. The seasonal feeding deficiency in the area is an important factor affecting the condition of the kept goats. Besides the factor of pronounced variation in the nutritive value of the natural vegetation, the distinct fluctuation in feed availability will also lead to a fluctuating daily feed intake." @default.
