- W1897675046 abstract "Polyhydramnios is a common clinical problem occurring in approximately 1% to 2% of all pregnancies. In most instances, it presents as a chronic disorder with excessive amounts of amniotic fluid accumulating over many weeks; however, in some cases it may be of acute onset, resulting in severe abdominal pain and dyspnea. Acute polyhydramnios is frequently associated with uniovular multiple pregnancies. Polyhydramnios may be associated with a number of maternal and fetal disorders, and in a significant percentage of cases is followed by fetal or neonatal death. Although the relative frequencies vary in reported series, polyhydramnios most commonly appears to be related to multiple pregnancies, maternal diabetes mellitus, or congenital malformations or is idiopathic, i.e., mother and fetus are presumably normal." @default.
