Therefore the object of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of older womens about the Pap smear and the attitudes towards the test both on the achievement but also of knowledge, the research was conducted in Itapora, a city located in the middle of Mato Grosso do Sul, it is a quantitative research was conducted through a structured questionnaire containing questions about the Pap smear, and the sample taken from the number of elderly who were registered in that unit, with a total of 73 interviews and data collection was performed through the routine visit of health workers in the surveyed households, the results of this research showed that most of the surveyed knew what the test was about 90.5% it was observed that 78% of the elderly carried out in self-care in promoting their health, achievement and knowledge of cytology, and that only 60% do not do it out of shame, followed by lack of time 26.5%, and finally one curious factor virginity 13.5%. It was found most women know / join examining colpo cytology through health promotion carried out by professionals." @default.
