- W191870110 abstract "Friction stir welding is a kind of green technology that is energy efficient and environmentally friendly. In comparison with other welding methods, energy consumption is lower, shielded gas is not needed, and it is more compatible with the environment. Many studies have been conducted in order to substitute fusion welding with friction stir welding on high melting metals. The main objective of this study is to simulate the optimum speed of friction stir welding of 304L stainless steel. A single and solid tool was used to weld 6.4 mm thick plate in three traveling speeds in two conditions: rotational speeds of 300 and 450 rpm. The simulation was carried out by ABAQUS software and compared their thermal and mechanical analysis with three different speeds. In constant rotational speed of 300 rpm, the optimum speed will be around 400 mm min−1 and in constant rotational speed of 450 rpm, the optimum speed will be around 300 mm min−1. Furthermore, by increasing traveling speed in a constant rotational speed, heat temperature and the amount of heat input would be reduced and stress would be increased." @default.
