- W1921314518 abstract "US use is core skill for clinical use. However, training is a complex task. The aim was to evaluate sonographic technical skills by using simulation training system. Prospective study. Included: 18 US sonographers, 19 OBGYN residents ≥ 3 years of residency, 8 OBGYN residents ∠ 3 years, 4 midwives. Simulator system included: US machine, US mannequin allowing performance of abdominal examination, innovative computerized system. Pre acquired US images were presented on computer screen. 12 fixed images were evaluated for each group with different levels of training. Those images were changed every few minutes. The trainee had to use US transducer and to create the same picture as was presented on the computer screen. In order to create the same picture the trainee had to change many of the applications and functions on the US machine. Those included: 1) Image quality which examines contrast and brightness of image. Those were quantified by gain, TCG, power control, SRI, US program, dynamic range 2) Proper use of the transducer which is studied by the proper use of orientation of the probe, and the angle components demonstrated on the US screen 3) Proper size of objects demonstrated on the screen presented by depth and zoom. Performance of each parameter was evaluated on a scale of 1–100 by a computerized model. For each of the parameters described each trainee got a grade. Mean grade for all the parameters of each group was also calculated. Statistical analysis was performed by SPSS. Mean grades for each group are presented (Table). Image quality was obtained with the best results for all groups. The lowest mean grades were obtained for the probe usage. Training with a virtual patient appears to be an innovative tool for the evaluation of technical sonographic skills. OP23.03: Table 1. Score marks for the different tasks of the 4 groups of trainees" @default.
