- W192687742 abstract "The objective was to analyze if the prescribed diet was effectively consumed by patients of a big hospital that stayed in forced enteral therapy nutritional. Forty-two patients in nutrition enteral were evaluated, in age of 64,02 ± 19,22 years (60% were elderly). Demographic, clinical and dietary data were collected. The energy and protein requirement were determined in agreement to the nutritional and clinical diagnosis according by Harris Benedict’s formula (1919) and the factors activity and stress. The calories and proteins daily prescribed and consumed and the intercurrences were daily verified. For this analysis, it was used p <0,05. It was observed a few number of days in using enteral therapy (mean of four), being dysphagia (63%) and anorexia (32,5%) the main indications. All patients had gotten continuous enteral feeding, by infusion pump and with polymeric product. Most of all via nasoenteral tube (95%) and with high-calorie product (67%). It was not verified differences between the prescribed or consumed calories and protein averages between elderlies and adults, and among that had or not neoplastic disease, neurological disease or malnutrition. However, it was verified that the calorie and protein (for kg weight) averages daily infused in the patients were smaller than that required and prescribed by the clinic staff. Only 31% of the patients reached their nutritional requirements. The main cause of the non infusion of what was prescribed, was the delay in the diet administration. It was concluded that there was an inadequate consumption of the prescribed diet to enteral therapy patients." @default.
