- W1937261796 abstract "Sciatic nerve, also called ischiadic nerve, is the largest and longest single nerve in human body. Sciatic nerve injury and dysfunction is not an uncommon cause of lower extremity musculoskeletal disorders. Etiologies of sciatic neuropathy may include traumatic, compressive, ischemic, neoplastic or idiopathic factors. Traumatic injuries may include injury to sciatic nerve in association with femur fracture, hip dislocation or fracture, laceration, gunshot wound and posterior compartman syndrome in thigh. We report a case of 38 year-old male presented with bilateral drop foot developed by two different, rare factors in different time intervals. He reported in his left side drop foot caused by gunshot wound in left gluteal region 6 years ago, and right side drop foot developed after resection surgery for intramusculer tumor in posterior thigh region, 8 months ago. Also he has sensory disorder in his right lateral side of leg and dorsal face of right foot caused by total injury of sural nerve. The case was considerable important as having these two rare etiologic factors resulted bilaterally sciatic neuropathy and drop foot in different time intervals (6 years and 8 months before). In sciatic nerve injuries early surgical procedures have greatly importance for preclusion of being permanent disabled." @default.
