The antisymmetric stretching vibrations of the BO4 group are assigned in the infrared spectra of several boron compounds with fourfold coordination, sometimes by the effect of isotopic 10B/11B substitution. The vibration, which is threefold degenerate with Td-symmetry, is mostly split, sometimes to a considerable extent. The presented spectra lead to a mean wavenumber of 1030 cm−1. Comparing the boron compounds with some isoelectronic carbon compounds shows the corresponding vibration of the CO4 group to occur with someone it higher wavenumber, 1110 cm−1 respectively. This is in close correspondance to the boron and carbon compounds with twofold and threefold coordination." @default.
