- W1960387612 abstract "A alimentacao do Oligoplites palometa , foi investigada analisando-se o conteudo estomacal de 645 individuos, capturados com rede de emalhar do tipo Serreira em tres areas de pesca do litoral ocidental do Maranhao. O comprimento total medio foi de 42,5 cm para femeas e 40,8 cm para machos. Do total de estomagos analisados apenas 18,9% apresentaram item alimentar. A frequencia de ocorrencia foi usada para apontar estrategias alimentares utilizadas pela especie. O resultado mostrou os peixes como item mais importante da dieta. Os meses de Julho/2007 e Agosto/2007 apresentaram a maior atividade alimentar. O fator de condicao apresentou as maiores medias anuais para machos e femeas no mes de maio/2008, sendo 0, 069 e 0, 030, respectivamente. Os resultados sugerem que o Oligoplites palometa e piscivoro e que nao apresenta grande variacao na dieta durante o ano. Palavras-chave: Dieta, estrategia alimentar, litoral ocidental, Maranhao. Abstract Food of tibiro Oligoplites palometa , (Perciformes, Carangidae) capturing the west coast of Maranhao and landed in the city of Raposa, island of Sao Luis-MA, Brazil The diet of the Oligoplites palometa , was investigat analyzing the content of 645 individuales, captured wint gill net of the Serreira type in three different points of the Coast Westery of the Maranhao. The average total length was of 42,5 for females and 40,8 for males. Of the total of analyzed stomachs only 18.9% they had presented alimentary item. The occurrence frequency was used to point alimentary strategies used by the species. The result pointed the fish as more important item of the diet. The months of July and Agosto/2007 had presented the biggest alimentary activity. The condition factor presented the annual average greaters for males and females in the month of Maio/2008, being 0,069 and 0,030 respectively. The results suggest, that the Oligoplites palometa is piscivorous and that it does not present great variation in the diet during the year.
