- W1963542173 abstract "FKR-REACHI~G possibilities in the preparation of polymers with a predetermined structure are envisaged through the use of those methods which appear in nature as super-efficient means of carrying out chemical reactions and forming molecular' and supermolecular structures; in particular, the elucidation of mechanisms of synthesizing macromolecules would be a big step forward in the same direction. Broadly speaking processes denote the synthesis of macromolecules in cases where the sizes and chemical structure of the latter are definitely determined by the size and structure of macromolecular matrices. However, if we aim to bring about processes of this kind it will first be necessary to make an all-round s tudy of peculiarities of the growth of polymer chains on macromolecules. In investigations of this nature it is not by any means essential t ha t the process under review should be a process in the strict sense: in this paper the term matrix polymerization is used to mean processes in which the growth of the polymer chain takes place on macromolecules previously introduced into the system (in a special case the could be polymer formed during the reaction). One of the central problems of is the interaction between the matrix, active centres of the growing chains and monomer, as it is the nature of this interaction that determines the rate of the reaction and the structure of the resulting chains. Naturally, if the process is a process, this will mean that an active. centre at the end of a growing chain will be unable to roam freely in the matr ix; otherwise it would be altogether impossible for information to be t ransmit ted from the matrices to the forming macromolecules. In this respect a most important consideration is that in the vast majori ty of eases the products of matr ix must be binary systems consisting of chains cooperatively linked to macromolecules formed on them. One may therefore assume that an active centre will automatically be linked with the as a result of cooperative interaction between the growing chain and the matrix." @default.
