- W1964838598 abstract "Abstract In the investigation of the 208 Pb(p, d) 207 Pb reaction at an incident energy of 41 MeV many weak levels were observed in addition to the expected strong excitation of the levels corresponding to the six predominantly one-neutron-hole states. The existence of some of these weakly excited levels can be explained by the presence of [hole × 208 Pb(core)]coupling states in 207 Pb. Predictions from weak coupling model calculations indicate that these states with the correct spin and parity can fragment some of the one-hole states significantly. The observation of an l = 3 level at 4.52 MeV with 10 % of the 2 f 7 2 hole state strength is consistent with these predictions. A level observed at 3.29 MeV and assigned j π = 1 2 + is believed to be a predominantly ( 2 f 5 2 −1 × 3 − ) coupling state. Its strength is consistent with that predicted for the direct excitation of a fragment of the 3 s 1 2 −1 state. The fragmentation (> 4 %) of the predominantly li 13 2 and 1 h 9 2 hole states is also predicted. Since the present reaction is relatively less sensitive to states with l -values of 5 and 6, these fragments could not be reliably identified from among the levels excited." @default.
