- W1964924900 abstract "Pretreatment of rats with chlordane or aldrin markedly decreased the acute oral toxicity of Banol and slightly decreased that of Mobam. Aldrin and chlordane administration caused an increase in serum and liver AliE activities and no change in liver and brain ChE activities. Single oral doses of Banol decreased liver and brain ChE activities, and liver and serum AliE activities, but did not inhibit serum AliE at a dosage level less than the LD50. Mobam inhibited the activities of liver and brain ChE and liver and serum AliE. Banol in aldrin-pretreated rats inhibited serum AliE more, liver AliE the same, and brain and liver ChE slightly less than when administered alone. Banol in chlordane-pretreated rats inhibited liver and brain ChE and liver AliE to the same degree, and serum AliE to a greater degree than when given alone. Mobam in aldrin-pretreated rats did not change liver or serum AliE activities, but did decrease activities of brain and liver ChE less than when given alone. Mobam in chlordane-pretreated rats inhibited liver ChE less than when given alone, and had no effect on brain ChE, or on liver or serum AliE. These changes in inhibitory activity when carbamates were administered to rats pretreated with chlorinated hydrocarbons were probably not large enough to explain the protective effect noted. Aldrin protected against Banol as well as did chlordane, yet the enzyme activities were different. Protection against Mobam was less, but the effects on enzyme systems were roughly paralleled by those produced by Banol." @default.
