- W1965482018 abstract "Leaves of Chinese cabbage systemically infected with cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) and control leaves were incubated with thymidine-3H, washed for different time periods, and then processed for electron microscopy autoradiography. The autoradiographs were subjected to a statistical analysis of grain distribution and to calculation of the specific activity of nuclei. Both methods revealed that in the nuclei of virus-infected leaves thymidine-3H incorporation was above normal in the samples examined after the shortest incubation period. In the viroplasm the labeling increased with time. These results suggest that the primary site of CaMV-DNA replication may be the host-cell nucleus, but that the viroplasm is a major site for virus replication." @default.
