- W1965828965 abstract "The effect of different shoot culture compositions on the thin cell layer nodal (TCLn) regeneration system for pea was tested. By varying the composition of the shoot culture medium, up to 86% of the regenerated shoots in cultivar Terese were able to produce roots at standard rooting conditions. Addition of silver nitrate to the shoot culture medium decreased vitrification, but greatly reduced rooting frequencies There was no major influence on shoot regeneration or rooting capacity when using 1.5% or 3.0% glucose or sucrose The use of 5 × 15−6M indole butyric acid in the rooting medium did not increase rooting. Seed‐derived progeny of regenerates contained the normal diploid number of chromosomes (2n = 14). It was demonstrated that rooting of shoots arising from TCLn explants was influenced more by the composition of the regeneration medium than by the rooting medium. These results imply a rather long‐lasting effect of the components in the regeneration medium." @default.
