- W1966258251 abstract "Abstract Condensation processes of niobium clusters formed in 0.2–0.6 Torr argon by a magnetron sputtering system are investigated by analyzing masses and speeds of condensed clusters. The densities of ionized particles were estimated from the detected ion current intensity. The particle density distribution in momentum space was classified into two particle groups, one approaching the thermal equilibrium in high mass region and the other with the same speed, which is much higher than that of the equilibrium case. The latter group apparently shows a non-equilibrium distribution of condensed particles. The clusters with magic numbers N = 8 and 20 were observed in the non-equilibrium region, v 1000 m / s . These two groups in density distribution show the two condensation processes of sputtered particles which depend on the energy transfer in the condensation. These two processes depend on the electronic structures of clusters and influence the morphology of the microcrystals." @default.
