- W1966351633 abstract "The most striking structural feature of the basin area bounding the Arbuckle Mountains on the east is a normal-fault system broken into a complex network of fault blocks. Structures in the basin are very similar to those in the mountains and probably were formed simultaneously by the same tectonic forces. The oil-producing structures are sharp anticlinal features bounded by normal faults which control the entrapment of hydrocarbon accumulations. The basin area is characterized by two outstanding rifts, known as the Wapanucka and Franks grabens, which lie between the southeastern end of the Arbuckle Mountains and the frontal Ouachitas in southeastern Oklahoma. These features, along which block faulting took place, show an interrelated complex of many fault orientations that resulted from the Ouachita, Wichita, and Arbuckle diastrophisms. Inasmuch as faulting was prominent in the structural history of the region, the delineation of the faults and their mode of development is vital to an understanding of the interregional tectonic framework." @default.
