- W1966606674 abstract "The effect of various pretreatment parameters. such as calcination temperature. reduction temperature and oxygen hydrogen cycles. on oxygen adsorption on silica-supported silver crystallites was monitored using oxygen chemisorption and the hydrogen titration reaction. In addition, selected samples were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. selected samples were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Reproducible adsorption behavior was observed following calcination at either 400 or 500: C. The maximum oxygen adsorption occurred following reduction at 400°C. whereas reduction at 500°C resulted in a 2O% decrease in oxygen adsorption which could be restored to the maximum value by by calcination and re-reduction at 400°C. this this reversible maximum in oxygen adsorption showed no crystallite size dependence over a range of 4 to 50 nm. Cyclic oxygen/hydrogen exposures at 170°C following reduction yielded oxygen uptakes that were consistently lower by 10%. This adsorption behavior is associated with physical changes in the silver crystallites due to surface restructuring or crystallite redispersion during the pretreatment steps." @default.
