- W1966991763 abstract "A theory of the thermally activated motion of vortices is given, taking into account vortex fragmentation into lateral and axial segments (strings and kinks) in weakly layered HTSC's. If the mean vortex inclination against the (a, b)-plane is not too small, the fragmentation comes only from a geometric roughening effect, which results in a widely independent thermally activated motion of the strings and the kinks. Then each of the two principal values of the resistivity tensor perpendicular to B is given as a sum of two independent contributions from the strings and the kinks, only. This leads to a sharp minimum of the resistivity in the (a, b)-plane, perpendicularly to B, as a function of the inclination angle if the effective pinning potential depth and the effective critical current of the strings and the kinks, respectively, are of the same order of magnitude. This effect can also be observed as an anomalous angular dependence of the irreversible part of the magnetic momentum and the torque momentum in torque magnetometry (butterfly effect)." @default.
