- W1967506492 abstract "This paper argues that the symptoms of psychopathy share variance with cultural values and should not be viewed as antisocial but extrasocial. This suggests that psychopathy is a continuous phenomenon and some “symptoms” should be found among general samples. A 16-item scale to measure “social psychopathy” (the SPS) is introduced based on common criteria or psychopathy and derived through judges' ratings of self-report items. The SPS correlated positively with self-monitoring and showed a curvilinear relation to a manifest anxiety measure. It related significantly to measures of time depiction and showed trends regarding a need for intimacy. Males obtained higher scores than females, and factor patterns, while varying for sex, showed parallels with traditional descriptors of psychopathy." @default.
