- W1967866710 abstract "The pyridylphosphine ligand, 2-(diphenylphosphino)pyridine (DPPP), was employed in the iron(III)-catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerizations (ATRPs) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) with various initiators and solvents in the absence of any radical initiators or reducing agents. In studies of their ATRP behavior, most of these systems were well controlled with a linear increase in the molecular weight (Mn) versus conversion in agreement with the theoretical Mn, and low-molecular-weight distributions (Mw/Mn = 1.10 to 1.25) were observed throughout the reactions. The effect of a protic solvent (methanol) was also investigated, and it was shown that living radical polymerization occurred, even in the presence of relatively high concentrations of methanol. The controlled nature of the polymerization was confirmed by the monomer addition experiment and the block copolymerization." @default.
