A determinant is ozone transfer from gas to liquid characterized by the mass transfer coefficient (kL) which is the subject of this paper. The estimation first required measurement of the volumetric mass transfer coefficient (kLa) gas to liquid and a methodology was developed using a semi-batch bubble reactor (gas continuous, liquid batch). Next, the interfacial area (a) was estimated from the measurement of gas hold up and bubble size. A novel bubble size analysis technique was used. Parameters evaluated included diffuser porosity, volume of liquid and superficial gas velocity (gas rate). The kL was 5.8×4;10-4 7.6×4;10-5 m.s-1, which is in the upper range of published values.
