- W1967896627 abstract "X-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectra of high spin CrCl3 and CrBr3 compounds show that Cr 3d, Cl 3p and Br 4p states contribute to the valence band structure. The main Cr 3d emission feature, observed on the top of the ligand bands, is assigned to poorly screened 3d2 final hole states, with a band gap of d-d type. A combination of photoemission and ultraviolet reflectance spectroscopy is used to get a reliable estimate of the Coulomb correlation energy U in transition metal compounds in presence of hybridization effects. A spectroscopic scheme for estimating the hybridization shifts in the evaluation of the Hubbard gap is presented." @default.
