- W1968346543 abstract "Abstract Application of limit analysis methods for direct solution of mechanical problems involving orthotropic materials is generally complex, at least from the analytical point of view. In this paper we define, under certain conditions, isotropic problems associated with initial orthotropic problems when the materials in the latter obey the yield criteria formulated within the simplified Boehler-Sawczuk theory of anisotropic plasticity. After a discussion concerning the methods for the determination of the anisotropy coefficients, the equations defining this association are developed. These equations, which are concern with the geometrical and mechanical variables, make it possible to obtain a solution for one of the problems from the solution of the associated problem, as well in the static (lower bound method) as in the kinematic (upper bound method) approach. The presented applications concern the determination of the bearing capacity of footings and the study of slope stability for materials obeying the Tresca and Coulomb criteria generalized for orthrtropic solids by the simplified Boehler-Sawczuk theory." @default.
