- W1969187060 abstract "The problem of correlation in time between production and consumption in commercial energy systems using renewable energy resources is presented, and the need for storing energy with a minimum increase of entropy is emphasized. An open loop chemical reaction for generation—storage of hydrogen—the formate—bicarbonate cycle (FBC)—is proposed as an efficient energy storage-delivery system. Thermodynamics and kinetics results related to the above chemical system are presented. Yields of 98% have been attained for the cyclic transformation formate-carbonate. A preliminary techno-economic analysis demonstrates that FBC is compatible with the technical state of art and with the magnitude of financial resources involved in power plants. When compared with other chemical storage systems FBC presents advantages in areas of investment and operation." @default.
