- W1969205708 abstract "Fifteen asymptomatic and randomly selected patients wearing a Copper T (TCu 200) IUD were subjected to hysterographic examination. Nine Ts had been inserted postmenstrually and six had been inserted immediately after a therapeutic abortion. The intervals between insertion and hysterography were from four to fourteen months. There was one cervical location of the device. The shape of the uterine cavity was normal in each of the subjects studied. The incidence of embedding of one or both tips of the transverse arms of the T into uterine tissue was found to be 87% in this series. Embedding of the tips was found to be similar whether the insertion was done immediately after a therapeutic abortion or postmenstrually. It is proposed that the embedding phenomenon contributes to the retention of the T by anchoring and suspending the device within the endometrial cavity." @default.
