- W1969229486 abstract "The ground-state transition in the C12(p, γ)N13 reaction has been studied in detail for the range of proton bombarding energies from 1.5 to 2.0 MeV. The measured angular distributions show large asymmetries which are strongly energy dependent. Calculations with a resonance-capture mechanism indicate that the angular distributions and energy dependence of the cross section can be satisfactorily interpreted in terms of the 1.70 MeV resonance (N13∗ = 3.51 MeV) interfering with the 0.46 MeV resonance (N13∗ = 2.37 MeV). A contribution from the 3.56 MeV level in N13 to the cross section could not be detected in any of the excitation curves or angular distributions. Calculations based on possible interference effects due to the 3.56 MeV level yield an upper limit for the (p, γ) cross section proceeding through this state of 0.16 βb (ωΓγ < 0.006 eV). The (p, γ) cross section for the 3.51 MeV level was found to be 37 βb (ωΓγ = 1.06 eV)." @default.
