- W1969988093 abstract "Attack-eliciting characteristics of urine collected from castrated or intact adult male mice, either untreated or receiving progesterone, were examined. No differences were observed in aggression displayed by isolated trained-fighter males when paired with gonadectomized stimulus animals smeared with urine collected from untreated or progesterone-treated intact donors. In a second experiment, castrated urine donors received androgen (testosterone or dihydrotestosterone) or concurrent androgen plus progesterone. Progesterone exerted no inhibitory effects on attack-eliciting characteristics of urine collected from treated donors when smeared on stimulus animals paired with trained fighters. Results of both studies indicate that the relatively low doses of progesterone used do not affect attack-eliciting characteristics of male mouse urine. Testosterone and DHT are equipotent in maintaining such attack-eliciting characteristics, and this ability is not impaired by simultaneous treatment with progesterone." @default.
