- W1970870168 abstract "In order to evaluate the impact of classes in family planning on the acceptance and use of contraception a study was conducted in Harlem Hospital New York in 1970. 100 postpartum women completed questionnaires before attending a class on family planning and 100 completed the questionnaires attending the class. The median age of the women was 21 years and median number of children 2.1. There was a significant increase in knowledge about methods of contraception after the class. Acceptance of contraception was not influenced by whether the woman had attended the class or not. Those in the after class group did not differ in their acceptance of contraception when high scores on quizes were compared to low scorers. However those women who understood the mechanism of action for oral contraceptives had significantly higher continuation rates." @default.
